In recent years, there has been an increase in research in many different fields, where researchers and practitioners use action research methodologies, working in the public sphere with people and communities in order to make a change for the better.
“Action research…aims to contribute both to the practical concerns of people in an immediate problematic situation and to further the goals of social science simultaneously. Thus, there is a dual commitment in action research to study a system and concurrently to collaborate with members of the system in changing it in what is together regarded as a desirable direction”1
The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners from various fields (social sciences, art, design, urbanism, education) in order to examine a spectrum of methodological practices that use action research in their practice. In the spirit of action research we wish to discuss and evaluate current practices,hoping to support, improve and reform the research of the conference participators.
We invite researchers and practitioners to send their proposals for paper presentations, workshops/interactive sessions, or colloquia addressing one of the following themes:
- Participation theory and Participatory practices
- Play or ceremonies and public intervention
- Ethics and Power Relations
- The role of art and design in reshaping public spaces
- Data, new technologies and digital tools
- History and narratives
Guidelines for submitting a proposal:
Please send an abstract of up to 300 words, along with a short biography of the speakers.
You can attach images or videos (up to three minutes in total) in a PDF or via links.

בשנים האחרונות התרחב השימוש במתודולוגיות של מחקר פעולה Research) (Action בקרב חוקרים ואנשי מקצוע בשדות שונים, הפועלים במרחב הציבורי עם אנשים וקהילות בניסיון לחולל שינוי לטובה.
“מחקר פעולה […] נועד לתת מענה למצוקותיהם המעשיות של בני-אדם המתמודדים עם קשיים דחופים, ובה במידה לקדם מטרות של מדעי החברה. מכאן שמחקר פעולה פועל לאורה של התחייבות כפולה: ללמוד את המערכת ובמקביל לשתף פעולה עם חבריה כדי לחולל שינוי ולהוביל לכיוון הרצוי.”1
הכנס יפגיש בין חוקרים ואנשי מקצוע מתחומים שונים )מדעי החברה, אמנות, עיצוב, אורבניזם, חינוך,( שיבחנו שיטות מתודולוגיות שונות המשתמשות במחקר פעולה, ידונו בפרקטיקות עכשוויות ויעריכו אותן, בתקווה לתמוך במחקריהם של משתתפי הכנס, ולתת כיוונים נוספים לשיפור.
אנו מזמינים חוקרים ואנשי מקצוע לשלוח הצעות למאמרים, מצגות, סדנאות, הפעלות אינטראקטיביות או דיונים העושים שימוש במחקר פעולה בחקירת אחד הנושאים הבאים:
- שיטות ותיאוריות השתתפותיות
- משחק או טקס והתערבות במרחב הציבורי
- אתיקה ויחסי כוח
- תפקידם של אמנות ועיצוב בעיצוב מחדש של המרחב ציבורי
- נתונים (דטה), טכנולוגיות חדשות וכלים דיגיטליים
- היסטוריה ונרטיבים
הנחיות להגשת הצעה:
יש לשלוח תקציר שאורכו עד 300 מלה, בצירוף ביוגרפיה קצרה של הדובר/ת.
ניתן לצרף דימויים או קטע וידיאו )תקציר עד 3 דקות( בקובץ PDF או באמצעות קישורים.
