Mundi _ Lab 2017 conference
Call for papers for academic conference, 26-27th December 2017
Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning
How can engaged research and projects create alternative spaces for dealing with contemporary social conditions?
How are new and accessible technologies reflected in processes of social change?
The Second Mundi Conference seeks to explore the connections between technology and community, and between academic research and intervening action. On the foundations of the first Mundi conference, which looked into the use of action research in different practices, we seek to deepen and sharpen the position of the researcher and practitioner intervening in public spaces while examining the current means available to them.
The conference attempts to expose and raise the issue of the involvement of researchers, practitioners, and artists in urban environments, studying their methods of operation and contribution on the local and global levels.
The conference will include social activists and researchers from the academic community. Selected papers from the conference will be published in a book by an academic publisher.
Conference program: Two consecutive days, with a keynote lecture each day. 26-27th December 2017
The nature of the conference is multidisciplinary and is intended for researchers from different disciplines dealing with the conference topics: architecture – urban design, urban planning, art, sociology-anthropology, geography, political science and the engineering fields.
We invite researchers, practitioners, artists and social activists to submit proposals for the presentation of articles, workshops, actions, and discussions.
Guidelines for submitting a proposal: A synopsis of up to 300 words (preferably in English) should be sent with a brief biography of the speaker. Relevant images are welcomed.
